Delegation 2009

In South Africa the word ‘Twining’ has been used to describe the working together of two very separate groups of people. Elsewhere this joint working together tends to be called a ‘Partnership.’ Both words attempt to express a spirit of co-equals, coming together, or joining as one to accomplish a shared goal. For the past ten years the JL Zwane Centre in Guguletu, South Africa has devoted time and energy to create and nourish partnerships with churches and individuals from various parts of the world.

Knowing that building good relationships is the key for much that gets accomplished in life, Rev.Dr.Spiwo Xapile went in search of others who might help.

Since 2000 there has been a growing development of Twining or Partnering between JL Zwane and congregations, individuals, and humanitarian groups who have traveled to South Africa to see first hand the effects of the pandemic of HIV/AIDS. Certainly the issues of poverty, unemployment, and limited infrastructure are facts first time visitors must be exposed to so as to determine how they might best help.

A number of people in Guguletu have learnt a lot through traveling to other parts of the world and learning from the experiences of those they connect with.
