On September 26, 2009, Arm In Arm In Africa and Open Arms of MN held their first joint fund raising event - Dusk2Dawn - to raise awareness of their causes and to fund the organization's efforts in South Africa and Minnesota. Arm in Arm In Africa's work in South Africa includes emergency food distribution, aid with housing, hospice, education, and health care for people living with HIV/AIDS. Open Arms prepares and delivers food weekly to people with AIDS/HIV in MN.
The 7-12 mile walk, beginning at St. Joan of Arc Gym, along Minnehaha Parkway and around Lake Nokomis was a joyous celebration on an exceptionally gorgeous Minnesota evening. Walkers were cheered on by supporters and neighbors on the path,as the sun set over Lake Nokomis. The closing ceremony included the Gwen Matthews Band and T. Michael Rambo as Master of Ceremonies.

A word from James Cassidy, President of AIAIA:
"In the nine years that Arm in Arm has been involved in creating family with our brothers and sisters in South Africa, I have continued to be so aware of the spirit of hospitality.  Many of the individuals that we have come to know and love in South Africa struggle each day to simply have enough to eat.  In that daily struggle, I continue to be touched by the determination and commitment of the community to care for one another. The funds raised by Dusk2Dawn will enable and empower Arm in Arm in Africa to ease some of the day to day challenges of being able to have food for their family.  It is a way for us to be human together, to be arm in arm, and to share in the gift of hospitality. Participating in Dusk2Dawn quite literally allows our human family to share a meal."

A heartfelt thank you to all walkers, crew, volunteers and supporters.
